Jenny's Story – SIDS

Our daughter passed away almost 9 years ago from “SIDS” but we firmly believe it was from her shots.  We took our 2-month-old daughter in for her shots on a Thursday. Before she got them she was perfectly fine. She was smiling and cooing and doing all the normal things a baby her age should be doing. Doctors were in awe over how well she had been doing.

After we got her shots we waited the first 15 minutes like they told us to, just in case she had a bad reaction. We took the paper home they give you for what to look out for after vaccination in case of a bad reaction. On Friday we noticed that she was experiencing some of those things to look out for. Her eyes were red and swollen. She was really sleepy, crying and not hungry. So we took her into the ER like they told us to do if these reactions happened. They said she was fine and sent us home.

Sunday rolls around and she’s not getting any better. As the day goes on we can tell something is still not right with her. We know our baby – something is wrong. So we take her back in to the ER that night around 7ish. They barely look at her, reassure us that she’s perfectly fine, don’t worry and sent us home.

So we take her back home, do her nightly routine bath, feeding, bedtime. 6 hours later my husband wakes me up frantic with our lifeless daughter in our arms. He rushed her across the street back to the hospital on foot trying to save her. It was too late. The Coroner’s Report said she had already been gone for 2 hours before he found her. So that makes it 4 hours after we had her in the ER asking for help – she died.

We were told it wasn’t her shots. No – she died from “SIDS”.
