These media fueled rants by the CBC are unhelpful and destructive to the community.
“News reporting” as this fails miserably to acknowledge the complexity of the vaccine decision. The challenge is vaccines have not proven to be either safe or effective in eliminating disease. This mom who is so angry with parents who don’t vaccinate their children admits the vaccine didn’t work for her daughter. This mom also blames her daughter’s infection on those that don’t vaccinate when there is no evidence to substantiate this claim.
There is no mention in this story that vaccine failure is what is driving the pertussis outbreaks, even though this has been acknowledged by main stream medical research.
There is no mention that the pertussis portion in the 5 in 1 shot has a long and devastating history of neurological injury.
There is no mention that of the $3 billion dollars in US federal vaccine injury compensation awarded over the past 27 years under the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986, the majority of awards for children have been for pertussis-containing vaccine injuries and deaths.
There is growing evidence that the significant increase in the number of vaccines our children are being subjected to is undermining their immune capacity and putting our children more at risk of infection just as the over use of antibiotics has increased the risk of contracting an antibiotic resistant bacteria.
The CBC needs to be more responsible than creating this kind of hysteria pitting parent against parent.
They should be advocating for long term clinical trials that actually prove vaccine safety and effectiveness. None currently exist that use an unvaccinated population or inert placebo as the control group.
They should be demanding a national vaccine injury compensation program for all Canadians, not just those living in Quebec.
Instead the CBC seems to grasp any opportunity to vilify anyone who would question the pro-vaccine dogma and thereby intensifies the polarization in our communities.
I expect more from the CBC, and hopefully you do too.
