40th Anniversary Wish!
The spark that ignited my interest in Edda West’s organization, Vaccine Risk Awareness Network (VRAN), was the birth of my granddaughter in 1995. Her mother said NO to vaccination from the start, despite relentless pressures from the many doctors who attended to the child’s complex medical situation (short bowel syndrome). Her mother instinctively knew to FORBID her daughter’s being vaccinated. In the process of understanding the WHY of her determination, I learned that Edda West was providing members with detailed information from scientists, authors and speakers investigating vaccination history, necessity, safety and efficacy. I submitted the modest yearly fee, and so began my association with VRAN, which ideas compared closely with those of Barbara Low Fisher’s “The National Vaccine Information Center” (NVIC), USA.
Found among my VRAN materials is a green info sheet titled, “Vaccination: The Science is NOT Settled”, from about 2015. It offers readers “Back Issues of our Newsletter, years 1994 to 2014”. There is brief mention of the VRAN victory described as “Vaccination is NOT mandatory in Canada. Let’s keep it that way!” The author writes, “We continue the work of VRAN (Vaccine Risk Awareness Network) and the Committee Against Compulsory Vaccination, which in 1984, won the exemption of “conscience” from vaccines required by Ontario’s Immunization School Pupils Act.”
Fast forward to Edda’s successor, Ted Kuntz, who accepted the charge to lead “Vaccine Choice Canada”, VRAN’s successor organization, using all the energy and intelligence with which our Creator God has graced him. In my file is a faded photocopy of an article titled “Parents Questioning Vaccinations” by Ted Kuntz, M.Ed. The centrepiece quotation reads, “The truth is, no vaccine has successfully passed a double-blind, long-term study to prove either safety of effectiveness”. I believe that the “secret” behind VRAN’s and Vaccine Choice Canada’s success in the fight against Evil lies in the power of God that accompanies obedience to His call. Therefore, on behalf of all those Canadians already “aware”, or soon to become so, I thank Edda West, Ted Kuntz and their staff members for the enormous efforts made to prosper the movement, now celebrating its 40th year. May all involved in leadership and active membership continue on the path to which we are called! May our moral courage increase and spread like a virulent virus across Canada and beyond, to infect the next generation with a thirst for truth and justice.
