Canary In a COVID World:

How Propaganda and Censorship Changed Our (My) World

Book Review by Ted Kuntz (Part 1 – Chapters 1 to 19)

Wednesday, January 10 , 2024

Over the holidays I’ve been reading ‘Canary In a COVID World: How Propaganda and Censorship Changed Our (My) World’ – A collection of essays from 34 contemporary thought leaders.

As difficult as it is to read this thorough and personal accounting of what we experienced these past four years, there is something affirming about seeing these statements in writing. For me it reinforced my commitment to standing firm in the face of the global tyranny we are witnessing.

Below are sections of the book I highlighted as I read. Two statements that resonate deeply with me are those from Dr. Aseem Malhotra –

“Keep speaking the truth. It is even less safe to not speak the truth.”

“Rights are only won by those that make their voices heard.”

We know what we have to do.

Blessings in 2024.

Introduction

“The subject of COVID is often too sensitive to introduce into polite conversation. Battle lines are drawn and more often than not there’s no amount of data, facts or opinion that will change perspectives. However, we believe that once people understand that their opinions have been formed based on information that has been heavily censored and that most legacy media are now instruments of propaganda, they will be more inclined to entertain the possibility that all is not what it seems.” p. 13

Chapter 1:

Where Your Fear Begins

“I wonder who is more laughable, or to be pitied: the man celebrating the bars of his prison or the one trying to get out.” p. 22

Chapter 6:

COVID-19 and the Shadowy “Trusted News Initiative”

“It wouldn’t be an underestimation to say that this is probably one of the biggest propaganda operations that we have seen in history,” concluding “what happens is down to how people resist and how much force and coercion the authorities use.” p. 93

Chapter 7:

Fact-checking the ‘fact-checkers’: Standing up for the Truth in the Age of COVID Censorship

“Such broad censorship would not have been possible without the collusion of private actors, including the media—and academia.”
p. 112

Chapter 8:

I Believe Fraud Has Occurred at Pfizer

“It’s called the institutional imperative where over time an institution acts in the interests of itself rather than its shareholders or in the case if the FDA, the stakeholders.” p. 112

“It takes seven to 10 years for a normal vaccine to be tested for safety before it’s put into the arms of people. The clinical trial only lasted 28 days.” p. 116

“They just experienced a Vietnam War in a year.” p. 117

“We have the evidence and there’s a large global murder scene that just occurred.” p. 119

“In 2020 / 2021 I think there were two pandemics. There was the pandemic from COVID and then the vaccine pandemic." p. 119

“I would say all the people that have been vilified are critical thinkers.” p. 121

“This is literally a crisis of critical thinking across all industries.” p. 121

“I’m not going to live in a world where I’m going to be mandated to take poison.” p. 121

Chapter 9:

Interpreting Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System Data (VAERS) to Show the Harms Caused by COVID-19 Vaccinations

“According to the United States pharmacovigilance database VAERS, there was enough of a safety signal emitted with respect to death reports to stop the roll-out of these products in January 2021.” p. 126

“What’s the cut off for the number of people who are considered allowed to die, become disabled or have neurological conditions manifest before these products are pulled?” p. 126

“VAERS was introduced 30 years ago essentially as a trade-off for immunity from liability for pharmaceutical companies. We got VAERS, and they got immunity from liability. So if they’re not going to be using VAERS as a pharmacovigilance tool now, then I propose that the immunity from liability should also be waived.” p. 126

Chapter 10:

The Dangers of Self-Censorship During The Covid Pandemic

“A dysfunctional system of media fact checking that ironically suppressed scientific debate in favor of accepted narratives.” p. 142

“Science is not a collection of facts. It is a process that allows us to better understand the world around us.” p. 142

“Medical science is premised on uncertainty.” p. 143

“Even a consensus of medical experts is not a fact” p. 143

Chapter 11:

Cruel Seasons

“Jacked-up fear messaging designed to scare us into obedience.” p. 149

“Vaccine efficacy failure and adverse reactions from the shot plus panic-driven lockdown policies killed people.” p. 151

“Media supported and promoted the biggest public policy failure of our lifetime by attacking anyone who called it out, no matter how credentialed.” p. 151

“The story of Covid-19 censorship told truthfully is a condemnation of every single institution we rely on. Our foundations have been breached. We can no longer trust that government, and the media that keeps them in power, have our best interests at heart.” p. 155

Chapter 12:

Observation as Misinformation

“The lack of basic public health guidelines for overall healthy living and disease prevention did not make sense.” p. 157

“The COVID pandemic has exposed the deep-seated flaws in our medical system, our public health institutions, and in our democracy as a whole.” p. 164

“We are now in a fight for our very freedoms – our freedom from the influence of state -controlled media, our freedom of bodily autonomy and self-expression, our freedom of speech, and our freedom to find truth.” p. 164

Chapter 13:

How Pharmaceutical Overreach, Corruption and Health System Failures Birthed COVID

“Consent that isn’t fully informed is not consent at all.” p. 168

“Now, we have complete health care system failure, and a pandemic of misinformed doctors and misinformed and unwittingly harmed patients, based upon a number of factors. These factors are: biased funding of research that is funded because it’s likely to be profitable, not beneficial for patients; biased reporting in medical journals; biased patient pamphlets, and biased reporting in the media.” p. 169

“Much, if not most published research is not reliable.” p. 169

“Those with responsibilities to scientific integrity and patients, namely doctors, academic institutions and medical journals, collude with industry for financial gain.” p. 170

“The situation has become so dire; doctors can no longer practice honest medicine.” p. 170

“The drug industry exaggerates the benefits and the safety of their drugs.” p. 170

“Doctors, patients, and members of the public are vulnerable to exploitation of their hopes and anxieties by political and commercial interests.” p. 171

“It’s the opposite of having a trustworthy organization independently and rigorously assessing medicines. They’re not rigorous, they’re not independent, they are selective, and they withhold data. Doctors and patients must appreciate how deeply and extensively drug regulators can’t be trusted so long as they are captured by industry funding.” p. 175

“The general population doesn’t know what’s happening and they don’t even know that they don’t know.” p. 175

“Keep speaking the truth. It is even less safe to not speak the truth.” p. 177

“Rights are only won by those that make their voices heard.” p. 177

Chapter 14:

Pandemic Politics and America’s COVID Cartel

“In America we really don’t produce pharmaceutical drugs. We do the research on it, but all the precursor chemicals and active pharmaceutical ingredients are primarily produced in China or India.” p. 182

“The solution, the end of the pandemic was there for the taking. Now, this was before the vaccines had been approved. Crickets. It’s still crickets.”
p. 184

“They can’t afford to admit they’re wrong at this point. The body count is so high.” p. 185

“I believe these people have blood on their hands.” p. 186

“Hundreds of thousands of people are dead in America that didn’t have to die. I am 100% thoroughly convinced of that. If the medical establishment had had an open mind toward early treatment and listened to people like Dr. Kory and Dr. McCullough and just tried it.” p. 186

Chapter 17:

The Day Journalism Died

“This is why journalism matters. It has the power to save the world.” p. 214

“In the past, CBC was legendary for its journalism. Overnight they had transformed into the governments’ lapdog.” p. 214

“It was classic Orwellian doublespeak. The opposite of what he was saying was true.” p. 215

“The CBC had embarked on the biggest pharmaceutical marketing campaign in the history of our country: COVID-19 vaccine promotion.” p. 217

“CBC’s announcers transformed overnight from trusted truth tellers into a propaganda machine hell bent on distracting us from the origin of the virus, igniting fear, advising us not to take medicine, and selling an unproven pharmaceutical potion as the only solution to our collective conundrum.” p. 218

“During COVID-19, the CBC transformed into a weapon of the state, aimed at its citizens.” p. 218

“News media capture is in fact a global virus more deadly than COVID-19 because it succeeded in the genocidal annihilation of journalism.” p. 218

“Who is responsible for the toll of injured and dead from the vaccines, if not the people who bullied and tricked us into taking them?” p. 219

“It is largely pharmaceutical marketing disguised as journalism.” p. 219

“Without journalism we have no democracy. It is a critical pillar supporting the healthy function of an informed electorate. Right now, all we have is a distorted version of truth that has been carefully rebranded “Trust”.” p. 219

“The news media appear increasingly culpable. It is reasonable to conclude that the most unsupportable and dictatorial aspects of government policies could not have been executed without their complicity.” p. 223

“The only way to recover a whisper of truly earned trust in our news media might be a criminal investigation into why they knowingly disseminated false information which betrayed their audience and caused thousands of people to put themselves in harm’s way.”
p. 224

Chapter 18

COVID Exposed: A Corrupt Medical System

“Perhaps the only good thing to have come of this is that it’s shone a bright light into the corrupt system, a fraudulent system that’s been there for a long time.” p. 227

“Most of the population has been brainwashed.” p. 228

“There’s overwhelming evidence that to vaccinate a child is a crime. And yet we continue to do it.” p. 231

“You don’t experiment with medications in pregnant women.” p. 231

“Whereas we know from Pfizer’s own data, the spontaneous miscarriage rate in vaccinated women was 84%. So the vaccine was more effective in terminating a pregnancy than the abortion tablet.” p. 231

“This has become a massive humanitarian crisis.” P. 233

“We need to reform, if not scrap the CDC, the FDA and the NIH, because they’re all captured.” P. 235

Chapter 19

The Deadly Consequences of Censorship

“We were arguing that the diversion of attention from other vital medical priorities was quite short sighted, and that there was an alternate strategy, focused protection, that could also have better protected older people from the disease.” p. 237

“Many people that are dead would be alive today had we been allowed to make that argument.” p. 238

“The result of that was essentially a corruption of the scientific process, a corruption of major institutions, governments, universities, and top scientific journals in service of a policy that almost everyone now agrees was entirely ineffective.” p. 243

“Government actors were involved at the highest levels of federal bureaucracy telling social media companies what ideas to censor and who to censor.” p. 244

“This censorship activity killed people.” p. 246

“Had the First Amendment actually been in place during the pandemic, it would have saved lives, would have led to less damage and destruction with fewer people dead.” p. 246

“Normally, when you take an action, the regulatory agencies have to do a benefit-harm calculation. You can’t just pretend there’s only benefits.“ p. 248

“Nearly every prominent institution in the world that should have protected us failed.” p. 248

“The Biden administration actually put out a policy idea where the goal in the next pandemic will be to get a vaccine in 130 days.” p. 249 “The de facto policy now for respiratory virus pandemics going forward into the future is the policy that we followed, this disastrous policy that didn’t protect us against COVID, and that led to all the lockdowns.” p. 249

“We need an honest discussion, and an honest commission that actually asks the hard questions.” p. 249

“There was a doubling down as the evidence started getting worse and worse about the policies they suggested.” p. 250

“It’s very difficult for powerful people to say, “Yes, we got it wrong.” p. 250

“The only real way for public health to be effective is to treat the people that they’re supposed to represent, the people they’re supposed to help, as reasoning adults with moral autonomy, not like chattel or children to be manipulated or nudged, or made to do exactly what public health wants them to do.” p. 252 “When there’s uncertainty in the science, when there isn’t a consensus, don’t lie and say there is one.” p. 252

“So much that we did in the name of public health was unethical, and so much that we did in the name of public health was so destructive.” p. 254

“You have to have an honest assessment or else the public is never going to trust public health again.” p. 254

“The only question is how can we help the process along, and make it as constructive as possible?” p. 255
