Dear VCC Community,

As a result of the efforts by Robert Kennedy Jr. to uncover the root causes of autism, a strong and well orchestrated backlash has been unleashed. Kennedy is being attacked for his disrespect of the “neurodiverse” and his misguided thinking that autism can be prevented. If the ‘dependent’ media (the media that is dependent upon government funding to survive) is to be believed, autism is a wonderful development in the evolution of humanity and should be celebrated, not prevented. In my view, the most intelligent comments on autism this week came from a young man named Jackson Chandler. Chandler decided to speak out about autism and whether or not autism “destroys families.” 

Chandler writes:  “I’ve sat with it quietly, watching people who’ve never lived this life give their opinions. I’ve heard the argument — that autism is a gift, that these kids are just socially different, that it’s offensive to suggest we should ever want a cure. But that’s not the world I grew up in. That’s not my reality.”

“My little brother Bryson was diagnosed with severe autism when he was 2. I remember what came after. The silence. The confusion. The way our lives slowly started to orbit around him. I was 10 — just old enough to know things weren’t “normal” anymore. I watched my parents slowly become different people. The stress of constant doctor visits, school meetings, and unknowns wore them down.”

Chandler then adds: “I voted for Trump. I’ve been called selfish. Traitor. Heartless. But the truth is — I didn’t vote for Trump because I agreed with everything he said. I voted for him because he was the only person who said the word “autism” in the White House in a way that felt real. And when RFK Jr. said that autism has destroyed families, it was the first time I felt like someone saw mine.”

“I’ve had to defend that decision over and over — to my friends, my peers, and to people who will never understand what it’s like to live with a sibling who can’t fully communicate, who can’t care for himself, and may never be able to. I didn’t vote against people’s rights. I voted for my brother. And I’d do it again.”

This young man knows more about autism than most doctors, politicians, or agents who purport to support people with autism. Chandler lives with the consequences of autism every day and likely will for the rest of his life. This is true for all of us who live with vaccine injured children. We know the reality of vaccine harm. We have witnessed our children change from bright, happy and engaged, to disconnected, unhappy, and dependent. And, as with my son, some pass away from their injuries.

I believe that the attack on Kennedy is because these people know that vaccines are the major cause of autism. They are not protecting our children with autism. They are protecting the narrative and financial bonanza that vaccines are “safe and effective”. 

No pharma marketing campaign, no government mandates, and no media coercion will convince me that vaccines are “safe and effective”. It's time we respect the authority and wisdom of parents. It's time we allow those who live with the consequences of a decision to make the decision. It's time we stop sacrificing our children for “the greater good” and corporate profits.

Divided Legacy (Vols. I-IV) is a history of Western medical philosophy from the time of Hippocrates to the twentieth century, treating it as a unified system of thought rather than a series of fortuitous discoveries. Dr. Coulter interprets the development of medical ideas as the product of a conflict between two opposed systems of thought, Empiricism and Rationalism.

This fourth volume of Divided Legacy opens with the rise and incipient decline of the bacteriological interpretation of disease, the “germ theory” as it came to be called, which has dominated medicine since its emergence in the 1880s.

The middle portion of the book opens with a long discussion of the therapeutics of “similars” within the Empirical tradition and in allopathy. Harris then examines the twentieth-century doctrine of “contraries” and its consequences. In the conclusion section, Harris argues that a meaningful reform of medicine must take into account the theoretical and doctrinal issues raised in all four volumes of Divided Legacy. Specifically, it must counteract the excessive influence of Rationalist thought patterns in contemporary medicine by encouraging initiatives from the Empirical end of the spectrum.

Dr. Harris Coulter (1932-2009) was a native of Baltimore, Maryland, and a graduate of Yale University. He received his PhD from Columbia University. He is the author of numerous articles and several books on acupuncture, osteopathy, herbalism, and alternative health care.
