CDC Whistleblower confesses manipulation and cover-up of vaccine-autism study
A news release
posted last week at the Age of Autism blog has sent shock waves through
autism and vaccine awareness communities. The report reveals that a top
research scientist turned whistleblower at the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC) played a key role in helping Dr. Brian
Hooker of the Focus Autism Foundation uncover data manipulation by the
CDC that obscured a higher incidence of autism in African-American boys.
So far mainstream media has provided only limited coverage of this
story.
On re-analyzing raw data from a 2004 CDC study supplied to him by the CDC whistleblower, Dr. Hooker found
that African-American boys receiving their first MMR vaccine before 36
months are 3.4 times more likely to develop autism vs. after 36 months. "The
CDC knew about the relationship between the age of first MMR vaccine
and autism incidence in African-American boys as early as 2003, but
chose to cover it up”, said Dr. Hooker. The whistleblower confirmed
this via telephone conversations and can be heard speaking to Brian
Hooker in a new video detailing the CDC cover up.
The informant expressed deep regret about his role in helping the CDC
hide data which found a much higher risk of autism in African-American
boys injected with MMR vaccine prior to 36 months. In the video,
Dr. William Thompson is identified as the whistleblower and one of the
study authors. Having worked at the CDC for over a decade, he said, “ Oh
my God, I did not believe that we did what we did, but we did. It's all
there. This is the lowest point in my career, that I went along with
that paper. I have great shame now when I meet families of kids with
autism, because I have been part of the problem.”
The video juxtaposes the malfeasance of the U.S. public health service
(forerunner of today’s CDC) in the Tuskagee syphilis experiment on
African-American men with the current manipulation of MMR vaccine data
that is estimated to have caused neurological injuries in tens of
thousands of African-American children. The Tuskagee experiment
went on for decades, starting in the 1930’s during which effective
medical treatment was deliberately withheld from the men suffering from
syphilis. And even when the CDC took over in the 1960’s, the experiment
wasn’t stopped – not until 1972 when a whistleblower went public with
the outrage being committed against these men and their families.
Similarly vaccine damage has been going on for decades - parents’
reports ignored and disparaged while government officials buried
incriminating data.
"We've missed ten years of research because the CDC is so paralyzed
right now by anything related to autism. They're not doing what
they should be doing because they're afraid to look for things that
might be associated," said Thompson. In a statement
released on August 27 by his attorneys, Thompson again reiterates his
regret for omitting “statistically significant information”.
Unfortunately, no amount of regrets will change the fact that the CDC’s
lies about MMR vaccine safety have taken a huge toll on children’s
health. Thompson also expresses his concerns in this video about thimerosal containing vaccines being given to pregnant women, stating that " Thimerosal from vaccines causes tics. You start a campaign and make that your mantra."
As stated by Marcella Piper-Terry in her excellent analysis of the whole affair, “When
it comes to lies about vaccines and autism, the CDC is very good at
what they do……What we know at this point is that the CDC buried the
knowledge of a significant increase in the risk of developing autism for
African-American male children who received the MMR vaccine according
to the CDC’s Recommended Childhood Vaccination Schedule. That one lie is
responsible for at least 250,000 cases of autism in African-American
male children. And that number is a vast underestimate of the true
extent of the damage.”
Nothing of this magnitude has emerged since 2000 when a top secret CDC meeting
was held at the Simpsonwood center in Georgia to discuss a vaccine
study done by Dr. Thomas Verstraeten. Examination of the medical
records of 110,000 children found statistically significant harms to
babies exposed to mercury containing vaccines in the first 6 months of
life. At the meeting, high level vaccine industry executives and
government policy makers conspired to bury the evidence that mercury
containing vaccines were contributing to neurodevelopmental disorders in
children.
At that meeting 14 years ago, lead researcher, Thomas Verstraeten stated, “ we
have found statistically significant relationships between the exposure
and outcomes for these different exposures and outcomes. First,
for two months of age, an unspecified developmental delay,. … Exposure
at three months of age, Tics. Exposure at six months of age, an
attention deficit disorder. Exposure at one, three and six months of
age, language and speech delays……Exposures at one, three and six
months of age, the entire category of neurodevelopmental delays, which
includes all of these plus a number of other disorders.”
On reading the transcript of the Simpsonwood meeting one is struck by
the callousness of those in charge of vaccine policies. Their primary
focus? Containment of the incriminatory findings, rather than
concern for the tens of millions of children who had been injected with
mercury containing vaccines, and of course, the vaccine industry’s
bottom line. The next move was to rework, massage and manipulate
the data to achieve a neutral outcome in which the harms signal was
reduced to nil. In his 2003 letter
to the then CDC director Julie Gerberding, U.S. Congressman David
Weldon, MD expressed concern that the manipulation of data in the
“Verstraeten” study had obfuscated the original finding of a “statistically significant relationship between exposures and outcomes.”
In his now famous article, Deadly Immunity,
environmental lawyer Robert Kennedy Jr. tells the story of how
government health agencies colluded with Big Pharma to hide the risks of
thimerosal from the public. He writes of “a chilling case study of institutional arrogance, power and greed……. [and]… instead
of taking immediate steps to alert the public and rid the vaccine
supply of thimerosal, the officials and executives at Simpsonwood spent
most of the next two days discussing how to cover up the damaging data.”
Put Children First presents a timeline during which concerns were raised about mercury in vaccines. “The Simpsonwood meeting set that stage for the way the CDC has conducted themselves ever since: control the damage, bury the data, and ensure that the National Immunization Program never misses a beat.”
