|
We’d like to thank you for responding so enthusiastically to our
recent fundraising appeal in the Fall 2012 VRAN newsletter. Thank you
for your kind donations and for renewing your VRAN membership. A
reminder, membership renewal is due at the beginning of each year. We
are grateful for your ongoing support which enables us to provide you
with an overview of important events pertaining to the impact of
vaccines on human health.
Recently more than 140 nations agreed on a treaty
to rein in the use and emission of mercury, but the treaty continues to
allow the use of the mercury containing preservative, thimerosal, in
vaccines. Mercury poisoning can affect immune system function and
impair development of the brain and nervous system, posing the greatest
risk to foetuses and infants. Named the Minamata Convention on Mercury
in honour of the Japanese town devastated by the crippling effects of
mercury poisoning, the treaty will be signed in Minamata in October and
will take effect once ratified by 50 countries.
Shockingly, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) wants to keep thimerosal
in vaccines for distribution to poorer nations as does the Global
Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation, whose main members are WHO, the
Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the World Bank, and UNICEF; PATH,
the Program for Appropriate Technology in Health; and the Pan American
Health Organization - which is part of WHO and procures vaccines for
Latin America.
"The promotion of increasing vaccines comes from subsidized vaccine
programs given by entities who claim to be 'helping' developing
countries," said Dr. Jose Dorea, scientific expert and advisor to
SafeMinds. "With our mothers and children here in Brazil and other
developing countries already exposed to excessive levels of mercury,
vaccines add another straw to a camel's back I fear we have already
broken in many cases." |

Nations Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee has preliminarily
allowed harmful injections of mercury from vaccines to continue
indefinitely while requiring other sources of toxic mercury in products
to be phased out or banned. Under pressure from WHO, the U.S. FDA, and
the American Academy of Pediatrics, governments at today's treaty talks
gave the mercury preservative Thimerosal a blanket exemption from
calling for replacement with safer alternatives.”

Prevenar 13 Pneumococcal Vaccine Damned in Belgian Media Reports
|
Of the 287 children who had received the Prevenar 13 plus other
vaccines on the same day, and experienced adverse effects, 62 had had
neurologic episodes (62/287 = 21%). Of the 470 children who
received the Prevenar 13 plus a hexavalent vaccine, on the same day, and
reported adverse effects, 163 had experienced neurologic reactions

In 2007, the Japanese ministry banned the use of Tamiflu in
10- to 19-year-olds after delirious behavior was observed in some
children taking the drug. They reported that those patients ages in
that age group who Tamiflu had a 54 percent greater chance of
exhibiting abnormal behavior than those patients who did not take the
